Paulina Czienskowski lives and works as a freelance author in Berlin, where she was born and raised. She has published articles in Die Zeit and WETTER magazine, among others. In 2018, her collection of short stories “Manifest gegen die emotionale Verkümmerung” (transl.: Manifesto Against Emotional Atrophy) was published by Korbinian Verlag, followed in spring 2020 by her debut novel “Taubenleben” (transl.: Pigeon Life) at Blumenbar, which was shortlisted for the EU Prize for Literature. This was followed by the text “Sich erinnern, man selbst zu sein” (transl.: Remembering to Be Yourself) in collaboration with the artist Malwine Stauss, published by Korbinian Verlag, and contributions to various anthologies. Since 2022, she has also been writing radio plays for Deutschlandfunk Kultur, where she collaborated with Theresia Enzensberger to create an audio anthology on the theme of tenderness with authors such as Karosh Taha and Karen Köhler. Her text “Vielleicht 5 Jahre” (transl.: Maybe 5 Years) was staged in 2024 by director Lena Brasch for the theatre in Heilbronn. “dem mond geht es gut” (transl.: The Moon is Fine) is her second novel and was published in 2025 by Blumenbar. She is currently working on her second long radio play with author Julia Friese for Deutschlandfunk Kultur, as well as a long poem with the working title “Lügen und Liegen” (transl.: Lies and Lying).
