Curator of the exhibition The World through AI.

Antonio Somaini is Professor of Film, Media, and Visual Culture Theory at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, and a Senior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). His recent publications include the articles “Latent Spaces: AI, Art, and the Archive” (October 196, Spring 2026) and “Algorithmic Images: Artificial Intelligence and Visual Culture” (Grey Room 93, Fall 2023); the catalogue of the exhibition The World Through AI at the Jeu de Paume museum in Paris (2025); and the book Culture visuelle. Images, regards, médias, dispositifs (with Andrea Pinotti, 2022). He has edited publications of texts by Walter Benjamin, Sergei Eisenstein, László Moholy-Nagy, and Dziga Vertov in French, English, and Italian, including the new French edition of Vertov’s writings, Le Ciné-OEil de la revolution (with François Albera and Irina Tcherneva, 2018). In 2020 he was the chief curator of the exhibition Time Machine: Cinematic Temporalities at the Palazzo del Governatore in Parma (Italian Capital of Culture 2020, catalogue published in Italian and English by Skira).
