In her film installations, Wu Tsang turns her attention to the world-famous opera, placing its protagonist at the center as a pioneer of female self-empowerment within the patriarchal structures of the 19th century. In “La gran mentira de la muerte” (2024) and “On Our Way to the General Strike” (2026), Tsang brings flamenco and bullfighting into dialogue with an exploration of death as spectacle and the aestheticization of violence.
