In his evocative film installations, Wael Shawky explores how history is narrated, remembered, and constructed from different perspectives. Through meticulously crafted sets and elaborately costumed figures, the Egyptian artist revisits historical conflicts from an Arab perspective, drawing attention to their repercussions that continue to shape the present. In autumn 2027, his latest work, “Gulf Project”, will be presented in Germany for the first time.
