Intro

The participatory project “In C – Community” by the celebrated international dance company Sasha Waltz & Guests to mark the opening of the new location is being created through a collaboration among professional dancers and amateur groups.

The structured improvisation “In C” was initiated in 2021 and has since been realized in a variety of contexts. It ties into the pioneering work of the same name based on the minimal music of Terry Riley. Analogue to this score, the choreography is developed from fifty-three variable movable figures. “In C” is open to adaptations in all dance styles and influences from different cultural circles; it appeals to professionals and amateurs, to young and old. Active participants and spectators all become a part of a unique performance, not only representing but also practicing the democratic principles of participation and equality.
