Marvellous Creatures: Guided Tour and Practice
We’re taking you on a journey into Leonor Fini’s world of wondrous creatures. On our guided tour of the exhibition, the focus is on transformation. We’ll encounter mythical creatures, such as the fiery phoenix or the mysterious sphinx, and ask ourselves: Which magical creature would we like to transform into, or what might already lie within us? What superpower would my creature have, and what makes it particularly strong?

A guided tour of the exhibition followed by a workshop. A playful exploration of art and of one’s own creative and expressive pathways. The focus is on educational methods that encourage children’s imagination, creativity and understanding.
In the workshop, we’ll create our own double-sided transformation masks. Using a variety of materials, as well as pull-out or movable elements, we’ll bring our very own imaginary creatures to life and experience what it feels like to slip into a new role.
In autumn 2026, the SCHIRN will present the first major exhibition on Leonor Fini in Germany. Around 100 works, including paintings, drawings, photographs and objects, will provide a comprehensive insight into the artist’s fascinating body of work. Influenced by the Renaissance, Symbolism, German Romanticism and magical Surrealism, Fini developed a distinctive visual language that bridges the realms of dream, myth and fantasy.
