Fantastical Creatures: Guided Tour and Practice
In this workshop, we create small three-dimensional fantastical creatures inspired by Anna Hulačová’s “Alienbees.” Using clay and modeling tools, we shape individual figures and consider what their habitat, communication, and environment might look like, and how they might live together.

A tour of the exhibition followed by a hands-on workshop. Through focused observation in the exhibition, students engage with the forms, materials, and content of the sculptures. They then independently translate these insights into their own individual sculptural works.
The SCHIRN presents the first solo exhibition in Germany by artist Anna Hulačová. Her sculptures combine Surrealism, socialist Brutalism, and Czech folk art into a distinctive cosmos, in which she explores the relationship between humans and nature from an ecofeminist perspective. In doing so, bees and concrete become symbols of a utopian-apocalyptic vision.
