Introduction in Simple Language
In this introduction, we talk about the films by Bárbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca in Simple Language.
In their films, they show groups of people and their culture.
These groups are not often shown.
The groups help decide what happens in the film.
They contribute to the text, music, stage design, and more.
The films ask questions such as:
• How do the people in the films live?
• What are important social and political issues?
In this introduction, we take our time.
Everyone is welcome to ask questions.
That means we explain the artworks in the exhibition using simple words.
Simple Language can help many people — for example, people who are learning German.

The SCHIRN presents the first major solo exhibition in Germany by the artist duo Bárbara Wagner & Benjamin de Burca. At the center of the exhibition is a newly developed production created specifically for this occasion. This video installation focuses on the current hardcore scene and, in particular, on Straight Edge (or “sXe”) in Germany – a movement that began on the U.S. East Coast as a “clean” counterculture within the post-hardcore punk scene of the 1980s.
