As a pilot project at the SCHIRN, the tactile floor guidance system “This Way” by artist Peter Schloss has been specially adapted for the exhibition. This unique concept provides orientation and makes the art experience more accessible. At 15 stations, all essential information is provided through audio texts in German and English. The texts created for this purpose were voiced with the support of AI and can be accessed via tactile QR codes. A route marked on the floor leads visitors to all the works in the exhibition. The aim is to offer an autonomous exhibition experience to visitors with visual impairments as well. To achieve this, “This Way” leads to all relevant works while maintaining sufficient distance from obstacles and delicate artworks. In particular, people with visual impairments and blind visitors are guided safely through the exhibition. The transitions from one work to the next are defined by the tactile floor guidance system. In addition, a tactile 3D floor plan of the SCHIRN is available in the foyer.
