Art After Work: Hybrids and Chimeras
Leonor Fini will transform you: Inspired by fantastical hybrid creatures between human, animal, and myth, you’ll craft a fantastical face mask to take home, step by step, using a variety of materials such as feathers, leaves, scales, or antennae. To wind down, wine and non-alcoholic drinks will be available.

This creative after-work evening is suitable for solo visitors as well as small groups.

Leonor Fini loved slipping into ever-changing roles and staging herself in imaginative ways. She created her own masks and costumes and was a regular visitor to fancy dress balls. Inspired by the Surrealist works in the exhibition and the photographs showing Fini in various guises, masks have been created that cover the upper half of the face and transform their wearers into fantastical hybrid creatures.
In autumn 2026, the SCHIRN is presenting the first major exhibition on Leonor Fini in Germany. Around 100 works, including paintings, drawings, photographs and objects, offer a comprehensive insight into the artist’s fascinating body of work. Influenced by the Renaissance, Symbolism, German Romanticism and magical Surrealism, Fini developed a distinctive visual language that straddles the realms of dream, myth and fantasy.
