Her work, \u201cMercedes Matrix\u201d, was a live disas\u00adsem\u00adbling of a used Mercedes Benz car, with many parts recy\u00adcled in her painting series, enti\u00adtled \u201cPaint\u00adings on Metal\u201d.<br><br>At SCHIRN, she installs gigantic mobile flower instal\u00adla\u00adtions which are trans\u00adformed from used multi\u00adpronged grab truck arms. The arms come to life as opening and closing flower petals, which appear anthro\u00adpo\u00admor\u00adphic, with eyes, some complete with teardrops. The accom\u00adpa\u00adnying smell of gaso\u00adline heightens the tension between the notion of the fragility of flowers, and the robust metal waste, creating a space for contem\u00adplating beauty and at the same time dura\u00adbility, even resilience. Love and sensu\u00adality inhab\u00adited her first works dedi\u00adcated to her mother. When her mother first took Selman to the sea, she created a video work (\u201cSALT\u00adWATER AT 47\u201d, 2015-2016) of her first encounter with the Adri\u00adatic Sea and with the sea in general. Through her draw\u00adings, video works, instal\u00adla\u00adtion pieces and live perfor\u00admances, we can observe the prevailing decolo\u00adniality tendency in the arts, by which all engage\u00adment with minori\u00adties and colonies begins with listening. Many of the western inter\u00adven\u00adtions simply imagine liber\u00ada\u00adtion and freedom as a perfect mirroring of what they know. When we listen, however, we recog\u00adnise that many of the insur\u00adgent move\u00adments actu\u00adally aim to access space, with many forging strate\u00adgies not to with\u00addraw from, but to better engage in citi\u00adzen\u00adship.
