DRAW YOUR MOON AND BECOME PART OF AN EXHIBITION

TAKE PART AND BECOME A SCHIRN STAR

Have you always wanted to know what it's like to be exhibited as an artist at the SCHIRN? Now you have the chance to become a real star! Create, together with many other children, the world's largest picture of the night sky and shine with your picture in the SCHIRN.

Artist Ugo Rondinone and the SCHIRN invite all children aged 6 to 12 to paint the moon and become part of a large installation. From June 24 to September 18, 2022, you can then experience your moon picture together with the pictures of thousands of other children in the LIFE TIME exhibition. So that everyone knows you are part of the project, your name and age will be displayed: on the WALL OF SCHIRN STARS!

WHY THE MOON?

The moon is so important to the artist that it appears again and again in many of his artworks. That's why Ugo Rondinone wants to create a work of art with your moon picture and those of many other children. The work will be titled "Your Age and my Age and the Age of the Moon".

The compilation of many different images in a large space is also called installation in art. The installation that is to be created at the SCHIRN with the moon pictures wants to draw attention to our universe, which is several billion years old. Part of this universe is, of course, the moon, which is responsible for ebb and flow, for example, or symbolically stands for longing and the cosmic expanse. In his works, Ugo Rondinone often refers to the Romantic era, in which the moon was a projection screen for reveries: people escaped from the confines of the city into nature and turned their gaze to the night sky.

Ugo Rondinone is an internationally renowned Swiss artist who lives and works in New York. In his works he gives a poetic dimension to everyday things or phenomena and creates atmospheric mood images.
