Dry Point Etching
9PM

The works of many renowned artists in the exhibition attest to social tensions, political struggles and upheaval in society in Germany in the period 1918–1933. Given the trenchant message they conveyed, the scenes set in the streets, brothels and bars were all ideally suited to being realized in a printing technique such as etching. Participants chose a theme after viewing the exhibition together in the group. The themes are then sketched as drawings, the format of the printing plate is selected, and the lines engraved mirror-inverted into the zinc plate. At the second date, the etching plates are inked up before being printed using the intaglio printing press.

Wednesday 10 January, 18.30–21 pm (Schirn) and Friday, 12. January, 18.30–21 pm (Städel Museum)
FEE 60€ plus entrance

Images of women
6:30PM

From nudes to portraits to scenes of everyday life: women are the subject of many works in the exhibition. Does the modern New Woman with a bob cut appeal to you, or do you prefer the touching portrait of a prostitute? The paintings, watercolors and prints are very diverse and multifaceted in terms of style, too. At the workshop, held in an open studio type situation, you will be able to try your hand at painting in acrylic and gouache, drawing in charcoal, graphite and pastels, printing monotypes and mixed techniques.

FEE 45€ plus entrance including a tour of the exhibition and material
