Scorpion Dagger has two worlds collide for Schirn Magazine: the Dark Ages encounter the madness of modern art. A collision in images.

His images have cult status in the Internet: under the name of Scorpion Dagger, the Canadian artist James Kerr has been publishing a new GIF animation on his Tumblr blog every day since 2012. He draws from the sheer endless archives of Renaissance images and has its mostly biblical characters make appearances in his short and bizarre stories: Jesus races down Jacob's ladder on a skateboard, the pope duplicates his backside on a photocopier, and God chats with Lucifer via Facebook. Exclusively for Schirn Magazin, Scorpion Dagger brings archaic medieval characters face to face with the modern art of E. W. Nay, George Condo, Rosemarie Trockel, Timm Ulrichs, and Damien Hirst. As could be expected, this gives rise to misunderstandings in the Dark Ages.
