Where are parking facilities for buses?
Buses can drop off and pick up passengers either on Berliner Strasse or on the Mainkai at the Eiserner Steg.
Is the SCHIRN wheelchair accessible?
Yes. There are ramps at the exterior steps leading to the entrance of the SCHIRN. All exhibition areas are accessible by elevator. Wheelchairs may also be borrowed for the duration of a visit.
Where can I find parking facilities for visitors with disabilities?
Designated parking spaces for visitors with disabilities can be found throughout the Dom/Römer area.
Is the SCHIRN accessible for strollers?
Yes. There are ramps at the exterior steps leading to the entrance of the SCHIRN. All exhibition areas are accessible by elevator. For insurance reasons we request, however, that you refrain from visiting an exhibition with a stroller during periods of high visitor attendance.
What other activities can I combine with a visit to the SCHIRN?
Should you be interested in additional cultural offerings, we suggest a visit to the Städel Museum or the Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung.

Can I bring my dog to the SCHIRN?
Unfortunately, for conservation and insurance reasons you may not bring animals with you to the SCHIRN.

How much does a visit to the SCHIRN cost?

Does the SCHIRN accept EC cards and credit cards?
Yes. The SCHIRN accepts EC cards, VISA, and MasterCard.
Who is eligible for free admission?
Admission is free for children aged 8 and under, members of FRIENDS OF THE SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE E.V., SCHIRN partners and sponsors, members of the Kunstgeschichtliches Institut and the Kunstpädagogik faculty at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, and members of the Children’s Art Club of the SCHIRN, Städel, and Liebieghaus.

What are the SCHIRN’s opening hours?

Checkroom
Is there a fee to use the SCHIRN’s checkroom?
The use of lockers is free of charge. A one- or two-euro coin must be inserted to use a locker (the coin will be returned to you on collection of your items)—please have a coin ready or ask for change at the ticket desk. On weekends you may leave belongings in our guarded checkroom at a cost of 1 € per visitor.
May I leave luggage in the checkroom?
No. We request that you not bring large quantities of luggage to the SCHIRN. Please leave luggage at the train station or take it to your hotel before your visit.
Is there a checkroom for school groups?
Yes. We have special lockers for school groups. Please ask for the key at the ticket desk (5 € deposit required).
What can I take into the exhibition spaces and what do I have to leave in the checkroom?
Please leave bags larger than DIN A4 (21 x 29.7 cm / 8.3 x 11.7 in.), as well as umbrellas, jackets, drinks, and food in the checkroom. Smaller bags, jackets (worn), paper and pens, strollers, and transparent bags may be taken into the exhibitions.
Restaurant
Is there a café or restaurant at the SCHIRN?
The café-bar-restaurant TABLE serves light meals as well as afternoon coffee and cake during SCHIRN opening hours.

Are photography, sketching, and painting permitted in the exhibitions?
The taking of photographs is permitted in the SCHIRN only in exceptional cases and upon registration; the use of flash is prohibited. Please consult our ticket desk staff. Sketching is permitted; however, only dry mediums, such as crayon or pencil may be used.
Guided Tours
How can I book a guided tour?
The SCHIRN offers individual guided tours for private groups, companies, tour groups, and school groups. The SCHIRN’s pedagogical team is pleased to provide individual consultation and to register your tour.

Are self-guided tours for groups allowed in the SCHIRN?
Yes. Should you wish to conduct your own guided tour in the SCHIRN we request that you register your group beforehand. For major exhibitions, we reserve the right to collect a license fee of 30 €.

Are there regularly scheduled guided tours of the exhibitions?
The SCHIRN offers regularly scheduled guided tours open to the public. To learn which exhibitions will be toured and when, please see the calendar.

Do I have to register for a public guided tour?
There is no advance registration for public guided tours. Please let the ticket desk staff know that you wish to take a guided tour. For groups and for special tours, however, registration is required by calling 069.29 98 82-112.
Where do guided tours meet?
Tours start in the SCHIRN’s lobby at the MEETING POINT FOR GUIDED TOURS.
Teachers
Are there special materials for teachers?
Information about the exhibitions is provided during continuing education seminars for teachers.

The SCHIRN also publishes booklets for school children and students that provide introductions to particular exhibitions.

Children
What sort of educational offerings does the SCHIRN have for children and young people?
The SCHIRN offers children and young people a wealth of programs in conjunction with its current exhibitions. All offerings are developed by the SCHIRN’s pedagogical team using the latest educational methods and are individually designed for children and school groups of varying ages.
TO THE OFFERINGS FOR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN
Is my child permitted to draw in the exhibition spaces?
Yes, but he/she may only use dry mediums, such as crayon or pencil. For our young visitors, we also provide a PLAYBOXX for each exhibition through which the SCHIRN can be explored. The PLAYBOXX is intended for children accompanied by a parent and can be borrowed for the duration of a visit to the exhibition.
