EBERHARD HAVEKOST. RETINA
15. January - 14. March 2010

The Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt is devoting a solo exhibition to the Dresden painter Eberhard Havekost. “Retina” will display a group of new works including nineteen previously unshown pieces from the last twelve months. The inspiration for the exhibition’s title came from a series of six oil paintings that deal with the optical perception of the world of objects and their abstraction. The pieces form a visible caesura in the artist’s actuality of pictures, and develop further the artistic engagement with this topic within his oeuvre.

As part of the exhibition, two further series and individual works, also created in the last twelve months, will be shown. The exhibition “Eberhard Havekost. Retina” continues Schirn Kunsthalle’s focus on current contemporary positions in the form of solo presentations. Most recently, this series has shown works by Aleksandra Mir (2009) and Michael Sailstorfer (2008).

Curator: Heide Häusler (SCHIRN)
